Reflecting on 2022 at Farm Sanctuary

Emmett and Wyatt

You’ve made our year.

Farm Sanctuary counts on friends like you to move our mission forward. Whether you’ve been a long-time supporter or just began following our work this year, we’re grateful for your partnership in building a more just and compassionate world.

Thanks to you, we can sustain our sanctuary operations that care for nearly 700 rescued animals at our New York and California shelters. You also help advance our core rescue, education, and advocacy efforts to combat the harms of animal agriculture and help people see farm animals as individuals, not commodities.

In gratitude, we’re proud to share this video celebrating some of our greatest achievements from 2022. Tune in for a recap of the year’s largest rescue, the groundbreaking research that made The New York Times, and more.

We couldn’t do this lifesaving work without you. Thank you for making this year one to remember and setting the stage for a bright new year to come.

[MUSIC PLAYING] Thanks to your support, 2022 was a year of tremendous growth in achievement at Farm Sanctuary.

Our Rescue & Placement team continued the important work of finding safe homes for animals in need.

Our largest case involved 29 cows rescued from a former beef farm in Oklahoma.

Our team took several cross-country trips to bring bonded groups to their new homes — and so far, we've placed nearly half the herd.

Our Wellness and Environment teams kept operations running smoothly at our New York and California sanctuaries — home to nearly 700 residents. They clean and re-straw barns, provide food and cutting-edge medical care, and offer enrichment to our rescued friends 365 days a year.

We also welcomed more than 10,000 guests during sanctuary tours and events. And our Humane Education team reached 100,000 students since the program's inception. These on-site and virtual experiences educate and increase awareness about our food system — and what we can do to change it.

Our Research team's groundbreaking work invites animals to participate in science on their terms — from PTSD research in cattle and pigs to learning patterns in chickens. And our pioneering work is attracting national attention. And finally, our Advocacy team introduced an advanced state and federal legislation and grew partnerships across movements to fight factory farming and promote food justice.

Your support helps us continue this important work that respects and uplifts farmed animals, humans, and the planet. We look forward to what we can accomplish together in 2023. Thank you.
